An idea to solve the encroachment problem.
Recent rainfall has brought the Bangalore traffic to halt for a long because of waterlogging, you might have seen the picture going viral on the internet. This is true for most of the metros.
Everyone has started cribbing about the infrastructure, and the way concrete jungle has been taken over by the natural path of the water to flow from one lake to another has created a kiosk.
The greed of people has created the issue, illegally expanding land parcels, and encroaching on the nearby water body or stormwater drain make it worst.
As there is a saying “Karma hits back harder” we could experience it in the recent past, be it as floods, or landslides in the Himalayas, and the reason is illegal encroachment.
Here I could think of solving the problem in the following manner.
- Google maps have information about the lake stormwater drain, forest, etc.
- Mark, it as reserve land with coordinates. make it as base data for any further comparisons. This required survey of the areas & update the maps with the details.
- Compare the map data with the base data to find out if any illegal activities are happening in the reserved area at frequent intervals.
- In case of any construction is happening in a reserved area, the system starts sending the alarm to the respective department and as well central office to act on.
- The nodal officer has to visit the site and get the details of the activities.
- Submit the details report and stop the activities in case of illegal.
- In case of legal activities like the rejuvenation of lakes & any other legal construction need to be updated in the system before actual work so that it will not generate an alarm.
- Area warden to report any illegal activities.
Let me know your thoughts.
I would be open to discussion if anyone is interested in this idea.
